Māori language education consultants working to help te reo Māori thrive across the generations

Kāuru Limited was founded on the premise that each consecutive generation must be better than the previous if te reo Māori in its entirety is to survive and prosper. Te reo Māori is the vertex of our identity and we believe it is our responsibility to actively contribute to its survival.

Ko te reo te taikura o te whakaao mārama. Language is the key to understanding.

This area stands as a space of natural abundance, where the sharing of knowledge and learnings pertaining to tikanga, te reo and ngā āhuatanga Māori take place. Thus this peka or branch of the Kāuru trunk trains, educates and shares an abundance of knowledge and resources that benefits all seeking Māori education related services and te reo resources.

Tikanga Māori illuminates our kōrero

Mai i te Kore ki te Ao Mārama

The Māori world view is what we see, the Kaupapa Māori approach is what we feel and the tikanga Māori are expressions to guide how we act. We ensure that tikanga guides us in how we conduct ourselves, our decision making and our interactions with others. Tikanga Māori also has a strong hold on our desired outcomes. This ensures that we are accountable to our values as a company and our commitment to our clients, their goals and objectives.

MAI I TE KORE KI TE AO MĀRAMA is therefore like a rākau with many different shades of meaning. It is interconnected and fluid in a way where no matter where the light is shining from the mauri of MAI I TE KORE KI TE AO MĀRAMA will constantly imbue the services provided by Kāuru.

Teaching and language resources

Māori teaching and language resources to improve learning in young people

This area takes responsibility for education related kaupapa which includes but is not limited to professional support and training of te reo Māori teaching and learning resources and the development and organised publishing of te reo Māori teaching and learning material and resources (for years 0 to 18). In this area, we can work with our Māori graphics and design team to create visually appealing resources.

Kāuru has the ringaringa and waewae to manage these areas, as we are currently doing with Te Ahu o te Reo Māori.
